This is Wesley, a cashier at Walmart in Sydney River, and he made my day today!
When I arrived at the store, I asked a clerk for help picking out a few items. I noticed Wesley, a young guy, checking out a family nearby. Before the clerk could respond, he said, “I’ll help her.” As we shopped together, I learned more about him. Wesley is from Glace Bay and has been working at Walmart for 10 months. He told me that he couldn’t find a job in Glace Bay because he has a mild form of Cerebral Palsy, which gives him a slight limp.
Wesley was so thankful to Walmart for giving him a chance to show that he has a lot to offer, despite his disability. His positive attitude really impressed me, so I asked if I could take his picture and share his story. He was happy to agree!
I hope this story will inspire others, especially those with disabilities, to get the opportunities they deserve. Big thanks to Walmart for believing in him!
